GOOD MORNING REGISTERS!! |
We are all looking forward to getting together with our Register Family!!! One thing to not forget when coming to the conference is..... DOOR PRIZES!!! We all love the surprise of a gift... So when you come bring a couple of door prizes for COAT and a couple for our Register Family... Have a blessed day! Here comes the RAIN!!! |
What's your thoughts? |
Just thinking!! We have a little time to visit at our meetings, and we call each other occasionally.. But, do we really know each other... What is your thoughts on doing a "Register Spotlight", monthly.. We could highlight one register each month. It would require a little time to jot down some things.. ie.. spouse, children, grandchildren, church, civic involvement, hobbies, pictures, etc... We probably should not do this online, but we could possibly do a monthly email... Just a thought, I would be glad to prepare the email and send it out. Just a way to stay in touch and get to know each other better... We may not want to do this??? (Identity Theft and all!) Just a thought!! Love you all! Blessings! |

Whitaker, Register of Deeds
From: Susan Sagash [Susan.Sagash@tn.gov] Sent: Friday, October 16, 2009 1:51 PM To: Pam Whitaker Subject: Re: Land trusts
Something has to be filed to show proof that the
Grantor and beneficiary are one and the same. If I were to go
out and look at that document in your records, I would need to see
proof of something.
I had a lady call me yesterday and say they'd
never had to do that before and she didn't want to start now. I
told her that was fine, they could pay the recordation tax
instead...she didn't say anything else about having to file the
additional paperwork.

| News regarding Land Trust |
I was asked to post this to the web-site by Susan L. Sagash in
September, just found the email in my inbox, didn't recognize the name,
so I had not opened it. Sorry for the delay!
I've been doing some research on these land trusts. They are a revocable living trust. But the law was changed to say that tranfers to revocable living trusts could be recorded tax free if the grantor and the beneficiary were the same. That being the case, the burden of proof is on the taxpayer to prove exemption and they would have to provide the trust agreement or an affidavit of trust to show who the beneficiary is of the trust. I would send the ones back that are not accompanied by such document.
Let me know if you have any questions.
